Free NFL Picks: Spurned by Packers, Barnett Agrees to Sign With Bills

Spurned by Packers, Barnett agrees to sign with Bills Free NFL Picks: Linebacker Nick Barnett did not take long for the free running of accepting a three-year contract with the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

The deal comes two days after Barnett was released by Green Bay Packers. And it came hours after the eight-year veteran saw a field of Bills training tutorial in suburban Rochester, NY The use of the 2011 Super Bowl ring, Barnett spent much of the session to discuss with Assistant coach Dave Wannstedt, who is also the linebackers coach within the team.

The bills were necessary to a linebacker after losing starter Paul Posluszny back, who signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.
Barnett had already started to issue notes referring to the agreement on his Twitter account.

"You bills fans are great here on twitter. How bout in the stadium?" Barnett had written. He also added: "GO BILLS."

Under the rules of the NFL free-agent veterans this offseason, Barnett does not train the team until a collective agreement is formally ratified. This is expected no later than Thursday.

Barnett has been a cornerstone of the Packers defense since being drafted in the first round in 2003 on the State of Oregon. Injuries have limited his performance; he joined two of the last three seasons on the disabled list.

It includes last year, when the right wrist injury limited him to just four games. His 2008 season was interrupted after an injury to his right knee.
Barnett had a solid season in 2009 when he was four bags career best, while being credited with 105 tackles. Overall, he has 15.5 sacks and nine interceptions in 107 career games.

The bills keep converted a defense that finished last against the run last year, while giving up an average 26.5 points per game. It was a patchwork unit and marked by injuries that took much of the blame for the 4-12 team finish.

Bills players were upbeat about the opportunity to sign Barnett for their review.
"He's a special kind of player and you can't help but be excited about the possibility of playing with him," linebacker Shawne Merriman said.

The rookie linebacker Kelvin Sheppard was impressed after Barnett was presented.
"For him to actually come up to me and say, 'what’s up Shep?' That's exciting," Sheppard said. "How could you not want a guy like that on your team?"

Press Packers Barnett was not a surprise. Expected to more than $ 5 million this season, Barnett proved to be the Odd Man Out, especially after the Packers linebacker AJ Hawk, reworked contract in March.

Barnett has proved a distraction in Green Bay. In January, he and tight end Jermichael Finley had complained on Twitter that injured players are not going to let the team photo to be taken days before the Super Bowl in Dallas. Packers finally agreed and gave the injured players to participate in photo session.
